Tryon Lewis to Speak at TEA Party Meeting Monday, July 25, 2011

Tryon Lewis

Some of you may be in Ector, Winkler or Andrews Co. and in Tryon Lewis' Dist 81 -- Texas House of Reps. If you have questions--now is the time to find out why they didn't pass the E-Verify bill or the TSA reduction of gropping! Ask if they give money to Harmony Schools? You have one in Odessa and it is created by Muslims according to what I've read. Ask about the re-districting and how fair is it? Ask what he believes in. Find out what he's willing to stand up for. Ask about Strauss (I think he may be running for another office). Anyway you get the picture!
The Odessa TEA Party, Inc. will meet Monday, July 25th at 7:00 p.m. at Odessa Bible Church, 2110 E. 10th.

Joining us will be Texas State Representative Tryon Lewis.

Please attend this meeting and bring all your questions for Mr. Lewis.

Faye: I was wondering if other elected officials are welcome, or if it would be too distracting. I am basicially a pretty quiet person and would not intentionally take any of the focus off the planned speaker's issues. If I am quiet and sit near the back, etc., do you think it would be okay for me to come? If not, I understand. I just love grassroots efforts like these and am more comfortable out in the crowd anyway. I am only a politician because that is required to do this job I love. If I don't hear from you guys, I won't go and maybe can just help behind the scenes.

This isn't my meeting, Cindy, but it is my belief that we need all the elected leaders we can get at all of the grassroots doings. The main complaint of grassroots efforts is that elected officials are disconnected. What better way to get connected? I'll probably be at the back also because I'm usually quiet unless riled and then I don't speak publicly very well. But I'm pretty noisy on this dang keyboard.

I called your office the other day (Thursday, I think, because I had been jammed up with the installation of a completely new a/c and heating system, then the water heater busted... yea haaa....) and gave them my phone number and e-mail address so we could get together. My e-mail address is fayehall@cableone.net. I'm fixing to send out another newsletter because of this meeting and there's some action on some bills we need to take.

Cool - I'll be there and looking forward to it. I didn't get a message, but if it was on late Thursday or Friday, I was entrenched in PTI activities, and since we had the community service roadside trash pick-up kickoff yesterday, didn't make it to the office on Saturday. I'll bring my calendar to the meeting Monday nite in case I see you, or if not, will call you so we can get together. Thanks!

I am now looking at my calendar at the office, and a DWI Victim Impact Panel meeting that I thought was from 6:00 to 7:00 tomorrow night actually starts at 7:00! I have been looking forward to going (and promised them), and had to postpone last time because another meeting ran over. I looked at the TEA Party website, but can't see when the meetings are held. The one I found only shows a May meeting. Have to get some work done, so stopped looking and hoping someone reading this can tell me when meetings are held so can put them on calendar. So sad to have to miss. If anything happens where I can be there, I will! DWI meeting is at OPD so afterwards will run by Odessa Bible Church and see if anything still going on. Thanks!

Don't worry about it, Cindy. It will get more active as the 2012 elections approach. I checked the website also and it doesn't appear to be updated. In fact, the Joyce I got the e-mail from is Joyce Petrich with the 9/12 Project, not the TEA party. Elizabeth talks to Jason a lot so I even checked his site, but I found nothing on it. Tryon should be an interesting speaker. We'll see what we can do about a report on the meeting and if I can get one, I'll post it.

Thank you. One thing I thought of. This Friday, the TDCAA (Texas District and County Attorney's Association) is presenting Tryon with an award for his extraordinary work this past year. It is a very prestigious honor. If you think about it (and want to), would you let this group know. It really is a big deal. I would if I could be there...
